Performance
Upgrades Make Everything Better
Here at Titan we like to view performance as - "anything that propels you forward faster".
Real performance can only truly be measured by how long it took you to cover the same piece of ground after upgrades (with equal conditions). That's why it's important to discuss your requirements prior to getting performance work done and implementing a strategy to gain forward momentum. In many cases, suspension upgrades and/or servicing rank pretty high, if you can't get the power down it slows forward momentum. And adding more power instead .......... could end up making the problem worse.
Identify then cure!
Suspension
Motorcycle suspension is pretty much in your face so you have no reason not to add a visual inspection after every ride. Catching a problem early could relieve a lot of stress later. Offroad vehicle suspension gets a real workout compared to the road so if you ride a lot it's a good idea to have your suspension serviced once a year, this will keep it feeling fresh and performing at it's best.
There seem to be a limitless number of suppliers of upgraded suspension parts but be warned - they don't always do what they say on the box! Always stick with a reputable brand, some may cost a little more but in the long term will save you money and supply better performance. Give us a shout to discuss your needs and we'll quote you on a solution.
And before we go - number one suspension upgrade is to ensure the front and rear spring rates are matched to the combined weight of you (in full riding gear) and your bike. If the spring rates are wrong you will never find a good setup over certain surfaces.
Engine
So now you can ride the wheels off your upgraded suspension and want some more forward momentum, it's engine work time! Unfortunately this can become quite a costly exercise and in all honesty is best scheduled to be done when a refresh or blow up repair is required.
Again, and we can't stress this enough, the level of work is tailored to your needs and budget. With upgrade parts available for just about every part in the engine the only limit is your wallet but never believe fitting a bunch of parts will automatically make the engine more powerful, it can often make them slower. Number one rule, of course, is choose quality parts that will work together to achieve your goals. Number two rule is have it built by someone who knows the intricate secrets of the engine. Number three rule is keep it serviced!
Our in house services include cylinder and head porting for 2 and 4 stroke respectively, crankshaft rebuilding and balancing, camshaft degreeing, soda blasting, some Cerakote coatings and a host more. Call to discuss your needs and we'll put a quote together for you.
Fuel/Exhaust
In a perfect world every change made on the intake or exhaust systems should be met with a fueling change but that's in a perfect world. To achieve optimum power you must first achieve perfect AFR's and the best way to do that is through fueling. Carb's may only require rejetting however there are some upgrade kits available that change the delivery and offer smoother response. Head over to our CARB page to see all we have on offer.
EFI systems can also be adjusted through chipping, flashing, piggyback modules, piggyback ECU's, standalone ECU's (and probably more) depending on the make/model of your ride. Adjustment of these systems is best left for someone with experience in this area and a rolling road (dyno) at their disposal. This is a must do if you want the best response, delivery and power from your fuel injected ride.
Exhaust systems can lead you down rabbit holes! Firstly, an exhaust doesn't work just because of it's pipe diameter and length - there's the materials they are made from, changes in diameters and where they take place, silencer dimensions and more that all effect the systems ability to make power. All we would recommend is doing some research and buy a full system from a known manufacturer and remember, more noise does not automatically equate to more power! Give us a call if you'd like our recommendation for your make/model ride.
